Photographing Tabitha Fielteau’s Latest Mini Collection

Some collections feel seasonal. Others feel emotional.

Blossom Reverie, the latest mini collection by Athens, Georgia–based fashion designer Tabitha Fielteau, exists firmly in the latter.

As a designer, Tabitha has always worked at the intersection of structure and softness, balancing intentional silhouettes with romantic detail. Blossom Reverie continues that lineage, but with a quieter confidence. This collection doesn’t demand attention; it earns it.

From the moment we began planning this shoot, it was clear that the story wasn’t just about garments, it was about growth, restraint, and femininity expressed through craftsmanship rather than excess.

A Designer Rooted in Craft

Tabitha Fielteau is a self-taught womenswear designer whose work has long been defined by her hands-on approach. She sketches, makes her patterns, cuts, and constructs each piece herself, grounding every collection in a deep respect for the process. Based in Athens, GA, her work reflects a slower, more intentional design philosophy, one that stands apart in an industry often driven by speed and volume.

That dedication to craft is immediately visible in Blossom Reverie. The collection feels considered. Thoughtful. Purposeful. Each look appears designed to exist independently, yet together they form a cohesive narrative, soft but structured, romantic without being fragile.

The Concept Behind Blossom Reverie

As its name suggests, Blossom Reverie explores the idea of becoming, of being suspended between potential and arrival. The pieces evoke florals without leaning literal, femininity without cliché. There’s a dreamlike quality to the collection, but it’s grounded by strong construction and clean lines.

This balance made the collection especially compelling to photograph. Nothing about it needed exaggeration. The beauty lived in the details: the way fabric held shape, the subtle movement in a sleeve, the quiet confidence of the silhouettes.

Photographing the Collection

From a photography standpoint, my goal was to honor the garments without overpowering them. Editorial fashion photography, at its best, should feel collaborative, where lighting, composition, and mood serve the designer’s vision rather than compete with it.

We approached this shoot with a publication mindset, clean compositions, intentional posing and emphasizing on texture, form, and negative space.

Rather than over-styling or forcing drama, we allowed the collection to breathe. This meant letting moments unfold naturally, small shifts in posture, quiet expressions, and subtle movement. The result is imagery that feels refined, modern, and timeless.

What stood out most while photographing Blossom Reverie was its quiet strength. The pieces don’t rely on modern trends to make an impact. Instead, they speak through balance, softness paired with structure, delicacy reinforced by intention.

Athens, Georgia as a Creative Home

Working with designers like Tabitha reinforces why Athens, GA continues to be such a meaningful creative hub. There’s a strong sense of community here, artists, designers, and makers building thoughtful work outside of traditional fashion capitals. We shot this series at the Lyndon House Art Center, and we couldn’t have found a better place.

As a Georgia-based fashion photographer, collaborating with local designers allows me to tell stories that feel authentic and rooted. Blossom Reverie is very much a product of its environment: grounded, intentional, and quietly expressive.

Collaborations like this are why I continue to pursue editorial and fashion work alongside my other photography and filmmaking projects. When vision aligns, the work speaks for itself.

Blossom Reverie is a reminder that fashion doesn’t always need spectacle to be powerful. Sometimes, beauty lives in intention, in the quiet confidence of a well-made garment, in the story a designer chooses to tell through restraint rather than excess.

Photographing this collection was an honor, and I’m excited to share this body of work as part of Tabitha Fielteau’s ongoing evolution as a designer. I also would like to mention Esohe Weka, the wonderful and beautiful model. She brought a grace and elegance to these pieces that I feel only her could have delivered. And a special thank you to Karen Allision, a fellow local photography who came by to help assist with the shoot.
